Duties: |
1. Enforce State Health Laws. 2. Make and enforce reasonable rules and regulations not inconsistent with law or rules of the State Board of Health as may be necessary. 3. May, by agreement with the Council of any city within its jurisdiction, enforce appropriate ordinances of said city. 4. Employ the Director who is responsible for hiring employees as are necessary for the efficient discharge of its duties. 5. Provide reports of its operation and activities to the Iowa Department of Public Health as may be required by the State Director. 6. Review and approve Department budget. 7. Adopt formal policy rules and regulations. 8. Participate in meetings, committees, and key activities. 9. Conduct public hearings. 10. Act on recommendations from the Director. 11. Develop, with staff, a vision, mission, and broad goals; serve as an advocate for the vision, mission, and goals. Assist in keeping the organization focused on its vision. 12. Monitor strategic implementation. Review strategic planning and implementation strategies. 13. Develop a general understanding of the organization and factors affecting decision making. 14. Communicate with the public and department staff and serve as conduit for input. |
