Washington County Public Health (WCPH)
WCPH is committed to protecting and promoting the health of residents of Washington County. Public Health affects everyone who drinks public drinking water, eats in a restaurant, buys milk, has an elderly relative who needs home care, needs emergency medical services, wants to avoid getting sick from an infectious disease, or is concerned about preparedness for natural or intentional disasters.
A few of the profound changes that our department has helped to bring about include: vaccinations, safer work places, safer and healthier food, vehicle safety, control of infectious diseases, advances in treatment and prevention of heart disease and stroke, family planning, the decrease in tobacco use, better care for mothers and babies and the fluoridation of drinking water. Please take a look at this site to understand how Washington County Public Health can serve you.

New and Updated Immunization Clinics
 |
We will have a new location for late immy clinic in Washington! Historically we have been at WIC (Old Public Library) providing late immy services until 6 pm on the first Thursday of each month.
Now, because of a new “pilot” partnership with the medical clinic we will be providing our late immy clinic on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 3-6 pm (starting March 8th) in the Surgical Healthcare Clinic area. A client can access this through the South (Old) Entrance.

| Seasonal Influenza (Flu) |
Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a yearly flu vaccine. Ample supplies of influenza vaccine are now available. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop an immune response. Get vaccinated now so that you will be protected when flu season begins. In the United States, influenza season usually begins in October and can last until May. Click here for Washington County public vaccination clinic dates and times. |

Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program
|
In 1982, the Iowa Legislature established the Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program (ICAPP), which receives federal and state funds to offer child abuse prevention services, such as parent education and support, crisis and respite child care, and sexual abuse prevention throughout Iowa. The program benefits more than 15,000 parents and 60,000 children in approximately 90 counties each year. Prevent Child Abuse Iowa administers the program. For more information click here |
| Adult Title 19 Services |
Washington County Public Health is now able to bill Title 19 for adult immunization services. This will include the flu vaccination as well.
