DRUG DISPOSAL
Iowa is the first in the nation to launch a statewide prescription drug disposal program.  TakeAway Environmental Return System allows consumers to safely dispose of unused or expired medications through the convenience of drop off boxes.  To locate a pharmacy participating in the program and a list of acceptable and non-acceptabl items click here.

IPDC PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT CARD
Iowa Prescription Drug Corporation (IPDC) is a prescription assistance program offering discounts on brand and generic medications.  This program is beneficial for individuals without health insurance or for individuals who have insurance but do not have prescription coverage.  The program may be used by individuals who have prescription coverage but cannot receive coverage for specific medications.  There is no enrollment fee to use the program.  Simply visit your local pharmacy when you have a new or refill prescription.  Present the card, and your discounts will be calculated.  One card can be used per household.  This card may not be used in conjunction with another insurance program in order to discount co-payments or deductible.   You must be a resident of the State of Iowa.  There is no age or income limits.  Participating pharmacies will have this card available to you upon request or contact Jen Weidman at Washington County Public Health for further information or to obtain a card.
