🚨 September is National Preparedness Month! 🏠🩺

Emergencies and disasters can happen at any time. National Preparedness Month is a reminder that taking a few simple steps today can help protect you, your family, and your community when an emergency occurs. Public health preparedness plays an important role in helping communities respond to and recover from emergencies.

🩺 Public Health Preparedness Tips:

✔️ Make a plan – Know how you will communicate, where you will go, and how you will reconnect with family members.

✔️ Build an emergency kit – Include water, nonperishable food, flashlights, batteries, first-aid supplies, medications, important documents, and other essential personal items.

✔️ Prepare for your health needs – Keep an updated list of medications, medical conditions, allergies, and important health information.

✔️ Don't forget special needs – Plan for infants, older adults, people with disabilities, pets, and anyone who may need additional assistance.

✔️ Stay informed – Know how you will receive emergency alerts and follow guidance from local public health and emergency officials.

✔️ Learn lifesaving skills – Consider learning CPR, first aid, and other practical skills that can help protect your family and strengthen community resilience.

💙 Prepared communities are healthier and more resilient communities. Use September as an opportunity to prepare your home, protect your health, and help those around you prepare, too.
